David Sward is Head of Experience Design at Cisco managing a cross-functional organization located in the US and India. Functional areas include User Research, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Mobile, and Content Solutions. Prior to joining Cisco David was Head of Design at Symantec running an organization of 120+ located in the US, Europe, and India. During his tenure at Intel he built and managed cross-disciplinary teams that applied human-centered principles to the design of new products and services. He helped develop the IT Business Value Program within Intel's IT organization. Prior to this David worked in Home Control and Telecommunications.
David is an experienced UX executive with extensive management experience and has successfully guided business units through the transition to "design centric" thinking. He has built teams that focus on retaining top talent and delivering to business objectives. He was an Adjunct Faculty member at Arizona State University Polytechnic, spent two years as a Visiting Principal Investigator in the Innovation Value Institute at the National University of Ireland Maynooth, was appointed to the Distinguished Board of Visiting Scholars at the Stanford Media X Lab, and is the author of Measuring the Business Value of Information Technology: Practical Strategies for IT and Business Managers.
